Yarnton is about 4 miles southwest of Oxford and has a population over 2.5k according to 2011 census reports, it is a civil parish and early bronze age decorated beakers found in the parish date the settlement back between 2700 and 1700BC.
Yarnton has a manor that was built in 1611 for Sir Thomas Spencer, the manor has a rich history and at one point served as a Royalist military hospital. The parish church, Church of Saint Bartholomew stands beside the manor house in Church lane and Christians of all denominations are welcome at all services. As most village do, Yarnton has its own village hall that was officially opened in 1979 by the management committee made up from village organization’s and elected members, the hall is located off Rutten land in the paddocks.
The Turnpike is the village pub and was built over two hundred years ago and was once known as ‘The Bunch of Grapes’. The turnpike is a rustic pub with plenty of rural charm and character nested in picturesque surroundings.
The turnpike has plenty of cask ales and fine wines and sports a fantastic menu for a great dining experience either intimate or with the family.
Yarnton is a well-equipped village with a post office on Woodstock road inside the local Budgens shop and it is also a petrol station do no worries about filling up either.
There is also a pharmacy, farm shop and a hairdresser.
Being so close to Oxford its self Yarnton is an ideal location to keep it rural but not so far away that you can’t enjoy all what Oxford has to offer plus being only 4 miles away getting a taxi with Royal cars is a very affordable way to get to one of the many bars, clubs and restaurants that make Oxford a great evening out.
