Kennington is a village just south of Oxford and occupies a narrow stretch of land between the River Thames and the A34, up until 1974 Kennington village was actually in Berkshire but the boundary changes transferred it over to Oxfordshire.
The manor house was built in 1692 during the “Great Rebuilding” of England. It is half timber at the upper section and the lower is built with limestone. There are two churches, a public house, health centre, two shops, a post office and a pharmacist so ideally well equipped for a village. The local primary school is a Church of England school and Kennington is also in the catchment area for the Matthew Arnold secondary school and a bus service is provided.
Being so close to Oxford itself there is plenty to do nearby and just 2.7 miles is Oxford Castle Unlocked which is suitable for everyone aged 4 and above.
A little closer is the Story Museum, an indoor exhibit that is suitable for children from the age of 4 and is just 2.5 miles away from Kennington, a nice day out for the children and not to far to travel!
For the more adventurous children then a must do is the Oxford Spy Mission Trail, a great tourist attraction and again is a mere 2.7 miles from Kennington
For the active locals there are two sports fields in Kennington but for those who enjoy good weather and aquatic activities then just under two miles away is the Hincksey Out Door Pool.
Kennington is close by to many of the local tourist attractions but also being so close to Oxford a night out or a good dining experience is not a unwanted journey and with so many bars, restaurants and takeaways in Oxford then everyone is spoilt for choice!
