If you’re off on business start your journey the right way and hire one of our executive cars for your airport transfer and relax in comfort while you go through those all important papers for your meetings.
Families can take advantage of our range of MPV class taxis while larger groups such as hen and stag parties can transfer to and from the airport together.
Royal cars don’t just provide airport transfer services to and from Ascott under Wychwood, we also provide an essential local taxi service for residents to get to other local amenities, with Oxford being 6 miles away a lengthy journey on the busses might be a bit of an inconvenience.
Apart from the name recently changing to Abingdon on Thames the picturesque town is shrouded with history from the abbey and churches to the Gaol or even the remains of motte and bailey castle the town is certainly worth a visit for historians.
Once the home of the Old Speckled Hen Ale named after an MG car not surprisingly as MG works were once building their cars here.
There is a shopping precinct that hosts adequate shopping and a visitor’s centre but also a Tesco Extra, Fair Acres Retail Park that includes some well-known retailers.
There are plenty of pubs and places to eat in and around Abingdon so don’t forget to book a taxi for your night out in town or perhaps you are planning a night out in Oxford and need to book a taxi or minibus to pick you up and bring you and or your group back home at the end of your evening.
Ascott under wychwood is the smallest of three wychwood villages, pretty and maybe a little isolated.
The name Ascott is from the Saxon for ‘East Homestead’ and Ascott started as a child settlement of Shipton.
There is a small railway station serving the villiage and is it on the Cotswold line and is operated by the Great Western Railway, it is an open air station. Ascott under Wynchwood has a church (Holy Trinity Church of England Parish Church) and it was built around 1200.
There is a small community shop and public house called The Swan (closed in 2010 and then reopened in 2013)
For such a small and isolated village one might think that there is not much to do but with a beautiful setting and close to the river one can find time to take picturesque and serene walks but a little further away from the village there just 4.9 miles in fact there is the Soft Play Barn as Hilltop Garden Centre to keep the little ones occupied during the less warmer times.
For the summer months a little over five miles away is The Lido an outdoor pool at Chipping Norton which is suitable for families and children over the age of four.
Moving slightly further afield there are many more places to visit and we have listed them below with the distance.
There are more attractions branching outwards but in the immediate vicinity our list is the most comprehensive.
Royal Cars has a fleet of over 100 vehicles and are able to provide taxi services for small families in our four door taxis to larger groups who might need a mini bus to get to any of these attractions.
